Sainte Famille,

Villeurbanne (Lyon)

The Sainte Famille church in Villeurbanne was built in 1927 by architect Louis Mortamet, in collaboration with his father, Gabriel Mortamet. The church was home to an Italian-speaking community in Lyon.

The church is built in concrete, according to the principles of Dom Bellot.

The tower has not been completed, a cylindrical spire should still be added.

The stained glass in the church is by Georges Décôte (1870-1951)

The concrete construction allows for a large open space. The pillars are placed far to the side and form a walkway near the outer walls.

The decoration of the church has been sober, it used to be decorated with painted motifs.

The ceiling has a concrete frame, the surfaces are filled with brick.
