Lyon
The parish of Saint Charles was founded in 1874 and had a
neo-Gothic church designed by architect Louis Bresson. This church was
demolished because the Croix Rousse tunnel was constructed. The parish received
a new building that did not get in the way…
The architect of this new church was Louis Mortamet, who used a modern variant of Bellotism in reinforced concrete. Sleek, more businesslike, the parabolic arch has been replaced by a Gothic arch.
The tower has a cylindrical crown, and the roof tiles show a
diamond motif decoration.
The interior is lightly decorated, the lower part of the
wall has a dark color accent. There is, however, a stone pulpit.
The church was put into use in February 1952.
