François
Bérenger
François Bérenger was born on June 21, 1901 in Milan. He died
on December 17, 1978 in Valence.
He was trained at the architectural studio of Dom Bellot in the Paulus Abbey in
Oosterhout and went to the studio in Wisques together with Dom Bellot in 1928.
There he worked
with Joseph Philippe on designs for
various projects by Bellot, including
a church by Bellot in Romans-sur-Isere.
Because both
Bellot and Joseph Philippe were unable to
work in the period 1939-1945, the churches in Annemasse and Annecy were completed
under his leadership during the second world war.
Bellot's design for Romans-sur-Isere was not implemented,
the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church there is a design from 1937 in Bérenger's name.
It is the only church that he designed independently. After the war, Bérenger mainly designed residential areas.
